The exhibition presented new works by Isabelle de Brito and Isabel Backman Cashman in a shared space at Juste Gallery in Stockholm. The works met in a dialogue where the artists’ expressions reflected and amplified one another. Common themes included the inner landscape, dream states, and the expression of the body.
Artistic Dialogue
Isabelle de Brito exhibited large-scale acrylic paintings where intense emotions and internal states were transformed into visual compositions. The new series “Mountains” were a tribute to supportive women in her life, one of them Isabel Backman Cashman herself. Her work balanced the abstract and the figurative – as is a common theme – utilizing an artificial colour palette that explored the tension between control and chaos in painting.
Isabel Backman Cashman contributed paintings influenced by psychology and surrealism. Her figures, often solitary, created a visual intensity through sharp colour contrasts, and the works reflected the feeling of existing in a liminal space.
