About Isabelle de Brito

Isabelle de Brito is a Stockholm-based contemporary artist working primarily with large-scale acrylic paintings. Her work explores the inner emotional landscape of the human experience through an intense, artificial color palette where abstraction and figuration meet. Faces, bodies and gestures emerge and dissolve in a space between reality, introspection and imagination.

Driven by emotion rather than narrative, Isabelle transforms personal and collective experiences into expressive visual compositions. Her paintings balance something raw and instinctive with a dreamlike sensitivity, inviting the viewer to pause, reflect and project their own feelings onto the work. Color plays a central role — not as decoration, but as a psychological and emotional force.

Isabelle’s work has been exhibited widely in Stockholm, including group and duo exhibitions at galleries, cultural venues and events such as the Nobel Prize Night Cap. Recent exhibitions include “Isabelle Isabel” at JUSTE Gallery (2025) and “Isabelle de Brito & Isabel Backman Cashman” at Hornstulls Bodega (2025). She is also developing ongoing series such as From the Transcript, focusing on decisive emotional moments and relationships that challenge, awaken and transform.

Alongside original paintings, Isabelle offers limited edition art prints and works with mural painting commissions for public and private spaces. Her murals translate the same emotional depth and expressive language into large-scale environments, creating immersive experiences tailored to each location.

Through her work, Isabelle aims to create art that feels both intimate and expansive — art that continues to reveal itself over time.
